The Bohicas visited Gigwise HQ this week to perform a beautiful, stripped-back version of the title track from their debut album The Making Of. The Kinks and The Beatles would be proud.

"I think our name [Bohicas is an acronym for 'bend over here it comes again'] is quite funny in a world full of guitar bands," explains frontman Dom McGuinness, as we catch up after their incredible performance. "It's like, 'Oh crap, here comes another one!'"

What's certain, though, is that The Bohicas aren't just another indie rock band. They're a solid addition to modern music and have just released an astonishing debut album on Domino Records.

The road to The Bohicas started when Dom and Brendan (drums) first played music together. "Me and Brendan used to be in a brainless punky two piece called Swanton Bombs and we got tired of that. We thought we needed a bassist and we met Adrian who recorded with my brother Eugene. Then Dominic [lead guitar[ returned from university and we had a full band."

Despite getting tired of it, Swanton Bombs were on their way to success. They toured alogside Christopher Owen's Girls and released an album on Turnstile Records. The decision to change direction, become a four piece, and allow the songwriting to develop has been a fruitful one, though. It's not only what we witnessed today in the office, with the immaculate four way harmonies, that affirms this, but also the reaction from fans at their gigs.

"We're playing music to people who have heard our music before which is incredible," assures McGuinness. "Being in a big or small band isn't relevant, it's the connection that we make. It's immeasurable."

The Bohicas play Tufnell Park's The Dome tonight (19 October). For tickets and more information, click here.
