The wildly talented New Zealand singer-songwriter Marlon Williams stopped by Gigwise offices recently, treating us to his unique brand of soulful acoustic sounds and otherworldly storytelling with his standout track 'Dark Child.'

With a vocal and lyrical style that's so wise beyond his 24 years, Marlon stopped the office in its tracks with a collection of sweet serenades and soothing guitar twangs that were both powerful and wonderfully tranquil.

Growing up singing in a catholic choir before being introduced to country music by his father, a Maori punk singer, Marlon’s influences stretch far and wide and can be heard in the potency and dense approach to his songwriting.

2016 is set to be a huge year for the young musician, with his debut self-titled album being released and Williams playing Austin’s SXSW with his band, The Yara Benders during his huge tour.

Marlon Williams’ startling and sonically diverse self-titled debut LB arrives on 19 February through Dead Oceans. You can listen to the album's opening track 'Hello Miss Lonesome' here, a wonderfully upbeat and rapturous track that introduces you perfectly to a beautiful record.
