With Valentine’s Day looming the nation are split between being head over heels in love, feeling all gooey and smushy inside or bitter, cold and a little bit angered by every smiling couple that crosses their path.
We spoke to Enter Shikari about their feelings on Valentine’s Day and which songs have the power to bring a tear to even those with the toughest of hearts. The band came out with some entertaining anecdotes and some excellent tracks that are not heard in your average Anti-Valentine’s Day playlist.

Joy Division - 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'
The first time I heard this track i hated it but my brother kept playing it over and over and slowly but surely I ended up loving it. Perfect track for a single person to wallow in self-pity thinking of their ex on Valentine’s Day.
Deepest Blue - 'Is It A Sin' (cicada stadium remix)
This is funny because the original sucks but I love this remix, it's very easy to mong out to, quite euphoric. I was driving around my ex-girlfriend a couple of years ago and this track came on the radio, I said "aw yeah I love this song" and cranked it, then the lyrics started and I suddenly felt very awkward, she wasn't very impressed.

The Beatles -'You're Gonna Lose That Girl'
Got to love The Beatles! Myself and Rou once played this song and one of our first ever gigs, problem was, it was a wedding reception, didn't go down too well. Live and learn.
Coldplay - 'Up In Flames'
Beautiful song, but the lyrics could totally be related to any failed relationship, perfect for captain hindsight on Valentine’s Day.

Prodigy - 'Smack My B*tch Up'
It’s not a good idea to smack your bitch up at any time of year! But especially on Valentine’s Day
The Streets - 'Dry Your Eyes Mate'
I'm not ashamed to say that I find it hard to listen to this tune without getting choked up. So if you are feeling lonely on Valentine’s Day thinking about your ex-girlfriend, I would say to avoid this tune.
