Beautiful synth driven indie-pop from Philadelphia duo

Find your passport and pack your bags, because it’s time to take a ride on Sun Airway. The Philadelphia duo just released a taste of their new album ‘Soft Fall’, the follow up to 2010’s ‘Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier.’

While their choice to eschew guitars for the less traditional basis of samples and synth is always going to raise some Animal Collective comparisons, Sun Airway do things completely their own way. The sun-drenched washed out electronic-pop is similar to ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ but Sun Airway use more melodic indie-rock song structures to frame their songs in an entirely different manner.

New song ‘Close’ is the perfect continuation of their previous sound – dreamy and mystical with just enough of an up-tempo feel to avoid feeling drowsy. The now-familiar electronic sounds soar here, with beautifully heady vocals.

The band release ‘Soft Fall’ on October 2 through Dead Oceans, and the tracklisting is:

Soft Fall:

01. Activity 1
02. Close
03. New Movements
04. Activity 2
05. Wild Palms
06. Laketop Swimmers
07. Soft Fall
08. Black Noise
09. Symphony in White No. 2
10. Activity 3
11. Over My Head

Finally – the best thing about the new album? It means we can finally take the old one off repeat.
