Night Panther: In Demand!

A band inspired by 'sex, synths and Phil Collins'

Best friends Farzad Houshiarnejad and Mike Cammarata of White Birds have formed side project 'Night Panther', describing themselves as a 'sex-pop band'. Fair enough...

When the lads say they are fuelled by sex, they mean it. Just take a look through the band's Tumblr page, it's wall to wall innuendo and footage of wiggling bums. Incidentally they do make music too.

New track 'Fever' is voluptuous velvet pop that leaves you feeling a little dirty; it's just so damn funky! Wailing vocals whine over a rumbling bass line and pokey brass section, with the end product being bold, catchy and strangely alluring.

There are touches of MGMT on first single 'Snudge', using those same ethereal vocals on top of gleefully dancing synths, and it's certainly a lot less erotic than 'Fever', but it's still great electro-pop.

There's an element of comedy attached to Night Panther. If you search the fairly absurd band name online, you seem to get the same caption whichever link you click; 'fuelled by sex, synths and Phil Collins'. Now, this is clearly true, but maybe put some form of extra info in there boys yeah?

We guess the idea is that you put your (filthy) name out there, and just let the music speak for itself? Well seems OK to us, but it'd be a shame if this panther skulked off into dark obscurity unnoticed...
