Oh, the weather outside is frightful - but not to worry, because Anglo-Italian band Mausi are here to whisk you away to summers in Milan. With their relentless sun-drenched dance-pop playing in your ears, you can forget about the snow and focus on the Riviera instead.
Brother-sister duo Daisy and Thomas Finetto hail from Milan and the influence of Italian summers is undeniable. Meanwhile, fellow members Ben and Benji add an English edge.
"We use the [Italian] influence in a different way to how other people use it," says frontwoman Daisy."Other artists write about summer music and picture club Ibiza type places and stereotypes, whereas we have this whole other aspect of having lived there. People want that carefree summery feel and it's very real, rather than a fantasy summer destination."
There's no question that there's a certain amount of escapism in Mausi's songs - infectious and glowing, packed with a buoyancy which is unescapable and no matter the amount of snow on the ground, Mausi will shine the sun through the clouds. "We like to make people forget about their worries," agrees Daisy.
First single 'Sol' was released a year ago and quickly grew in popularity, propelling the band towards more mainstream success. "We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that," Daisy points out. "It's been a good year so far."
Now their latest track 'Move' is doing just as well, and the band are starting to look ahead to the release of an album. "We've been working really hard to get the album finished," Daisy says. "We want it to have a summery feel, so we want to release it before the summer ends. But these things take time!"
With gigs coming up at London's XOYO - "It's going to be a good night," promises Daisy - as well as Newcastle's The Sage Gateshead, Mausi are set to take the world by storm. Which is fine by them, as long as you promise to have a bit of a dance while you're watching them.
"Whenever we play live, everyone wants to dance," finishes Daisy. "We just want them to let go and have a good time!"
