Music's biggest disappointments of 2013 so far Photo:

Each and every year, much is promised in the world of music. Such-and-such a band will reform and such-and-such an album is going to be amazing and every so often, the dizzying hype often leads to an almighty disappointment and all of your musical hopes being crushed into atoms.

While 2013 has seen some amazing and historic happenings in music, it's also had more than its fair share of devastating let-downs.

As we cross the half-way mark of the year and look ahead to another six months of hope and promise, we've compiled the biggest disappointments of 2013 so far in a big, fat list for you to laugh, cry and and question what all the fuss was about in the first place.

Sit back and be let down.

1. Justin Timberlake - 20/20 (basically bettered in every way by Robin Thicke)

2. Daft Punk - RAM (an undanceable dance album)

3. London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (Only No.34 in the charts - seriously? You see, UK - this is why you can't have nice things)

4. 'Secret Sets' at Glastonbury (Secret sets don't count if the band is already on the bill. And Beady Eye. Really? Really?)

5. Alex Turner abandoning his Sheffield roots and adopting a crazy, quasi-US accent at Glastonbury

6. Pharrell Williams appearing on every good song but not having a new solo album out

7. Pulp released one single but no new album. Such a tease.

8. Stone Roses still touring and milking their 90s hits but no new music...yet

9. Kanye - stop shouting and write some hits

10. Jay-Z - stop changing nappies and enjoying domesticity and get some edge

11. David Bowie not touring. When will we see the real return of the Thin White Duke?

12. The Knife's live show. Was it music? Was it a DJ set? Was it a dance performance? Who knows?

13. Palma Violets' album not living up to the hype

14. Bastille's album: the great songs were already on the EP and it was too clean compared to his darker, more enticing Other Peoples Heartbreaks mixtapes Guitar music not dominating the charts

15. The Strokes new album was a let down too. Comedown Machine indeed.

16.The National being ace but not becoming as big as REM

17. Frightened Rabbit being ace but not becoming as big as The National

18. A proper Destiny Child reunion didn't happen

19) Beyonce: From selling out and losing her Miss Independent streak with her Mrs Carter Show to proving she's not as down to Earth and open as we believed after the Superbowl photos incident, plus the fact that no one has any idea what's going on with her new album.
