Parody tracks can be rather a mixed bag, so mixed in fact that the large majority really aren't funny in the slightest. Either that or they are so reliant on current affairs that they quickly become dated, failing to stand the test of time.

Nevertheless this week we've had a few stand out entries that have cleverly taken the artist's style of songwriting and written something that could easily be mistaken as the real thing - in this instance, spoofing Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor. The result is an intricate joke that is funny for pretty much everyone (except maybe the artist). Check out these tracks and more, in the parody songs that are actually quite amusing...

1) The Peppermen - 'Abracadabralifornia'

This parody song that was released from the Comedy Buzz podcast actually managed to fool Chili peppers fans into believing it was a real Red Hot Chili Peppers song. You can see why as well, with the track exploiting the staccato style songwriting facets and melodies the band use over and over again.

 2) Weird Al Yankovic - 'Eat It'

Weird Al is like the go to man for parody songs and if there is a classic song out there, he probably has a song about it. Under his eye he cleverly switches out lyrics, keeping the essence of the original track but transforming into something hilarious. ' Like A Virgin' becomes 'Like A Surgeon', 'Bad' becomes 'Fat' and so on.

3) Ten Masked Men - 'Livin' La Vida Loca'

The world of metal covers is a touchy one, particularly for your ears and soul as they tend to be awful. However this is a little piece of brilliance if you can bare it. This is what Ricky Martin would have sounded like if he ended up in Cannibal Corpse.

4) The Muppets - Bohemian Rhapsody

Everyone loves Queen and everyone loves The Muppets, if this doesn't make you laugh you have a heart made of stone. Animal's verse of 'Mama', is a real highlight from this Muppet tribute to the famous band.

5) FrederickScott - 'This is a Trent Reznor Song'

'This is a Trent Reznor Song' draws specific attention to the Nine Inch Nails penchant for various types of sounds and vocals. It mimics a Nine Inch Nails track perfectly, beginning with a techno beat, a growing intensity and vocal before the guitar hit and accompanying 'weird noises.'

6) Miranda - 'Wrecking Ball (no porn version)'

Riding the fine line between funny and disturbing, Miranda's parody is rather bizarre to say the least. This version of 'Wrecking Ball' sees her keeping it clean and also performing a version that to be honest we prefer to the original.

7) Teddie Films - 'The Star Wars I Used to Know'

If you're like us you would have found the prequels pretty bloody depressing. So this duet between Anakin Skywalker and George Lucas should cheer you up, particularly with the Disney produced (and potentially crap) sequels on the horizon.
