The Family Rain brought no-frills, all-thrills rock n' roll back to the mainstream with their debut album, Under The Volcano, released at the start of 2014. The record was a melody-driven collection of guitar-led and iconic-sounding tracks which hit hard and offered an alternative to anyone tired of over-produced urban beats and watered down indie pop.
The band recently revealed their new, David Lynch-inspired video for new single 'Don't Waste Your Time', and the band's frontman Will Walters has revealed why he felt the melancholy track leant itself so well to a treatment similar to the work of the iconic Twin Peaks director.
"It has a slightly eerie quality to it, whilst still coming from a very real, emotional place," he told us, as he praised Lynch's use of colour and "his ability to turn the mundane and ordinary into something surreal and unique."
The video is set in a working-mens' club, a situation which Walters admits comes with its own sense of tragedy, adding: "The working men's clubs that we know have a feeling that their heyday is behind them."
'Don't Waste Your Time' is released on 12 May 2014, and it seems likely to be the last release from Under The Volcano, as Walters reveals that The Family Rain are already hard at work on new music, telling us: "We have been busy writing in the last few months so we are hoping to get some more songs out before too long."
