More about: Years & Years
2015 might still be very much in its infancy, but few have had a bigger start than Years & Years.
Despite being on the brink of something huge, they're unassuming and engaged when Gigwise chat to them ahead of their performance at Eurosonic Nooderslag. There's a passion and drive behind them which becomes evident when they talk about their music, but they're also just as happy convening with us and each other about Eczema, cat Instagram accounts, and whether Birdman is actually any good.

When we talk to them, the band have only recently been announced as the winners of the BBC's Sound of 2015 poll, following in the footsteps of Adele, Haim, and Sam Smith. "We found out when we were in LA, so like a week or two before," they tell us. "To be honest until it got announced, I don't think any of us believed it really... We were like, 'Maybe they lied, maybe it was a hoax...' 'The winner is... Metallica!'"
Despite the pressures that come with winning such a prestigious award though, they insist, "It doesn't worry us. it's scary but it's good, it's bracing. It snaps you out of it and makes you think, 'Wow people are listening to us' and we know that more people will be listening to us, so it is daunting but it's fun because we have a chance."
Years & Years play Shepherd's Bush Empire on 12 June. Buy tickets here.
