Kendal Calling is an independent festival based in the Lake District. Though it's grown from 900 capacity to 13,000, it's still one of the smallest. Size doesn't matter though, Kendal Calling has played host to Pendulum, Mumford and Sons and Calvin Harris to name a few.
It's not got a particularly focussed genre or style, but it's a festival that has climbed the rankings in recent years, and is a good one to go to if the sheer scale of the bigger festivals exhausts you.
