Macclesfield three-piece The VirginMarys release their debut album King Of Conflict this week, and are already causing waves on the music scene with their no nonsense, raucous guitar sound.
The band previously told Gigwise that they waited until they had the right collection of tracks for the album, but as soon as they did - recording the record took no time at all.
"We did a series of EPs but we wanted to wait and make sure we had the right tracks for the album," said frontman Ally Dickaty. "We went into the Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire and banged it down live, so it was done it two to three weeks. We wanted to keep everything a raw and live as we could."
As well as growing their own dedicated fanbase, the trio have found a fan in a true rock icon, with former Guns N' Roses star Slash wearing one of The VirginMarys' tour t-shirts on stage during a Manchester gig.
"He came on wearing one in Manchester. We didn't know he was going to do that and it was just crazy. One of the highlights of my life. Just completely surreal," Dickaty added.
To celebrate the release of the album, The VirginMarys have given Gigwise a signed guitar (and a copy of the album), as clutched in their own sweaty palms. If you fancy winning this one-of-a-kind prize, all you need to do is answer the relatively simple question below.
Which music icon is a fan of The VirginMarys?
