Be Charlotte, a three-piece from Scotland, are finding loopholes in genres and fusing them together.
Their new track ‘One Drop’ opens with a simple beatboxing loop, fronted by Charlotte Brimmer, who has already been regarded as one of Scotland’s most prestigious songwriters thanks to her seemingly impossible merging of genres.
Using sinister synths, infectious guitar riffs, beatboxing and elements of hip-hop, Be Charlotte are undoubtedly making a stand by uniting genres that once seemed so far apart.
The Dundee trio made their first major impact at T in The Park’s T Break stage last year, but are now pushing to break their projected boundaries by using their witty wonder that brings such a unique sound.
The authenticity is ragged, run by Charlotte’s Dundee accent, but she also shows a side that is musically individual, innovative and impressive.
‘One Drop’ is a bustling beat that presents the Scottish band as a group willing to go to war to get where they want to. It’s a barbarity that will have your heart racing from the first beat.
Having already made steadfast progress, Be Charlotte’s 2017 is already looking like their year. Having been chosen to represent the BBC at Eurosonic Festival, and to play SXSW in Austin, TX, Be Charlotte are just at the cusp of what is sure to be a brilliant career.
Be Charlotte set off on a European and Scottish tour later this month.
