Foo Fighters have reportedly been booked to headline Glastonbury 2016 after the band were forced to pull out of this year's slot when Dave Grohl broke his leg.
The Foos were playing at Gothenburg in Sweden two weeks ago (12 June), when Grohl fell a great height from the stage during 'Monkey Wrench'. He is said to have fallen between a gap between a ramp and the audience, tumbling to the ground.
"I think I just broke my leg," said Grohl as he lay on the ground. "I'm going to go to hospital. I'm going to fix my leg. And then I'm going to come back. You have my promise right now that the Foo Fighters - we're going to come back and finish the show."
While medics tended to Grohl backstage, the rest of the band played on with covers sung by drummer Taylor Hawkins, before Grohl came back with his leg in a cast to perform 'All My Life'.
Despite this act of stoicism, the band subsequently cancelled all forthcoming tour dates under the instruction of doctors, including their much-hyped headline slot at Glastonbury.
Since then though, Emily Eavis has told Digital Spy, "We've got three headliners for next year, so that's completely sorted. We're in a really good position in that respect because it means we can now focus on the rest of the bill."
According to a source for The Sun, one of those three headliners booked for next year is Foo Fighters. The source is quoted as saying, "Michael was quick to book him for next year as he's desperate for the Foos to headline. He knows they'll go down a storm at Glasto. Dave agreed within seconds.''
Glastonbury 2015 kicked off at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset yesterday (24 June) and runs until Sunday 28 June, with headline performances from Florence + The Machine, Kanye West and The Who, alongside Paul Weller, Patti Smith, Wolf Alice, Ryan Adams and many more.
