We knew when we called Kanye West's Glastonbury performance "the headline set of a lifetime" that our opinion wasn't going to be a universal one... but we weren't quite prepared for the level of vitriol that followed.
West was, as you'll no doubt be aware, a controversial headliner from the off - there was even a petition launched asking Emily Eavis to have him replaced with a "rock band" - but it seems his set did little to silence the critics.
The Facebook comments on our review go some way in demonstrating (though some of them were too offensive to include here) how Gigwise readers felt about West's set.
The Twitter response from Gigwise readers, on the other hand, was less overwhelmingly negative.
@Gigwise I personally felt like it was incredible. Just him and his music, it's all we needed to prove he is amazing at what he does.

@Gigwise Really incredible. Every song you could possibly want from a Kanye set. And the crane was an great touch at least for the crowd!

@Gigwise watched it on my TV. Its not my kind a music, but I found the show and performance impressive. Definitely a headliner.

@Gigwise Sensational. Atmosphere in the crowd was one of the best I've ever witnessed. And New Slaves was as powerful as live music gets.

There was still plenty of derision though.
@Gigwise Absolute wank from start to finish the set was 90 minutes too long from the greatest living rock star

@Gigwise I think it was a show created for Glasto. It was built on egocentricity & cause for debate, there was no thought for actual fans!

@Gigwise over rated ego maniac with a completely bloated sense of self - no substance to his set #kanye #glastonbury

@Gigwise were you when there? Mass crowd exodus from song 2 onwards tells you all you need to know.

@Gigwise Hit & miss set from a giant halogen oven. There's a difference btwn a great gig and a great festival set KW doesn't quite yet get.

@Gigwise He messed it up! A show for die hards, not the masses. Self indulgent and frankly boring. Apart from murdering Bohemian Rhapsody 😂

Glastonbury Festival comes to an end tonight (28 June) with a headline set from the slightly less controversial The Who.
