Former One Direction member Zayn Malik is reportedly working in the studio with Frank Ocean collaborator Malay.
Malik left the band in March, after taking a break from touring. In a statement posted to the band’s Facebook page, Malik said: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart."
He continued: "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
Since then, he's publicly fallen out with one of those "four friends for life" Louis Tomlinson, after a series of tweets from Tomlinson led Malik to write, "remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?"
Now, R&B producer Malay, who's previously worked with Frank Ocean, Tune-Yards, Angel Haze and John Legend, has posted a picture of Malik in his studio, alongside a caption which describes Malik as a "co-worker."
As NME reports, Malik is also said to have signed a deal with Turn First Artists, the management company who represent Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora.
Malik was previously working with Naughty Boy on new music, but they swiftly parted ways after Naughty Boy was said to have leaked Malik's demo video.
