More about: Guns N Roses
Potentially awesome news for Guns N' Roses fans - the band could be on the brink of reuniting with the classic line-up for some huge shows next year.
The glam metal cock rock heroes have been through numerous line-up changes, albeit without Slash, Duff McKagan and the iconic roster from their late 80s and early 90s heyday. They've since fell victim to bad blood, rock n' roll parody and persistent lateness from frontman Axl Rose.
While the more modern and current incarnation of GN'R is said to be 'on hiatus' with their future 'up in the air', this could all be because the classic line-up are coming back together.
Blitz reports that some of Portugal's 'top promoters' are in talks with them to play some massive two-hour reunion shows for around $1.5million early next year. It was reported earlier this year that they'd also be paid $100million for a worldwide tour.
Could it be true? Could we see them at Reading & Leeds, Download or Glastonbury too? Time will tell.
“It’s been one of those things that’s been talked about by everybody but us for over the last 18, 19 years,” Slash said in an interview earlier this year.
When asked when the last time he spoke with Axl Rose was, Slash replied: “Well, we haven’t really talked in a long time, but a lot of the tension that you were talking about has dissipated. We don’t have all those issues anymore. It’s not a lot of controversy. It’s something that's more perpetuated by the media, than anything.”
Slash was then asked if he would ever want a reunion to happen, to which he answered: “I've got to be careful what I say there, I mean, if everybody wanted to do it and do it for the right reasons, I think the fans would love it. I think it might be fun at some point to try and do that.”
He didn’t clarify what those “right reasons” are, though, saying, “I mean, that’s a hard one. That just starts to get into a whole complex thing … it’s really between the guys in the band…Never say never [to a reunion].”
