Though rumours have suggested that Rihanna’s new album Anti is set for an imminent release, fans of the ‘Stay’ artist may be in for a slightly longer wait. This news comes after ‘Chandelier’ singer Sia revealed that she gave four songs to the Bajan popstar only last week.
Anti, Rihanna’s eighth studio album, has been teased throughout the year with hit singles ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’, ‘American Oxygen’ and ‘FourFiveSeconds’. The record is expected to be the ‘Umbrella’ singer’s most successful to date.
The album’s prospective release has been shrouded with speculation over the past couple of months. One report suggested that it would drop 27 November, but it failed to materialise. Another ‘insider’ then tipped the record for a release last week to no avail.
Speaking on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show last weekend, Sia revealed that she played RiRi a number of songs she has written for Anti. She said: "The other night she came over and listened to half of 25 songs I played her because she's still looking for songs for her new album.
“She was there to listen to songs and see if there was anything that she was into," Sia continued. "It was a business meeting for sure. She took four [songs] but I don't know if they'll end up [on the album]."
The pair have a fruitful collaborative history – with Sia providing writing credits for Rihanna’s 2012 chart-stormer ‘Diamonds’.
Despite no confirmed release date, Anti is expected to stream exclusively on Tidal.
Rihanna will be embarking on a mammoth UK and European tour next June, with The Weeknd and Big Sean as support. See dates below. For tickets and more information, head here.
