Morrissey has spoken out after The Literary Review awarded its Bad Sex Award to his book titled, List of The Lost. The Literary Review awards its Bad Sex Award to the "most egregious passage of sexual description in a work of fiction.”
List of The Lost, was the Smiths singer’s debut novel but not his first attempt at publishing.
The book was released earlier this year and earned notoriety from critics for its passages about sex. The singer published three works with Babylon Books in Manchester during the early 80s: The New York Dolls, James Dean is Not Dead and Exit Smiling. He also released a highly successful autobiography, which was branded as a "contemporary classic".
One of these passages reads, “At this, Eliza and Ezra rolled together into one giggling snowball of full-figured copulation, screaming and shouting as they playfully bit and pulled at each other in a dangerous and clamorous rollercoaster coil of sexually violent rotation with Eliza’s breasts barrel-rolled across Ezra’s howling mouth and the pained frenzy of his bulbous salutation extenuating his excitement as it whacked and smacked its way into every muscle of Eliza’s body except for the otherwise central zone."
In an interview with Uruguayan newspaper, El Observador, the singer said that it was “best to maintain an indifferent distance” from the award,” because there are too many good things in life to let these repulsive horrors pull you down”
He continued, “I have many enemies and their biggest motivation, as you know, is to try and use all your achievements against you?”
Earlier this month, Morrissey compared the Transport Security Administration to ISIS.
