Iggy Pop has shared the first track from his collaboration with Josh Homme - check out the beautiful 'Gardenia' from Post Pop Depression below, and see them make their live debut.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the Queens Of The Stone Age man and the punk icon had been making the record in secret - with the album harking back to Pop's 'Lust For Life' days.
Now, artwork reveals that the record also features Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders on drums, and Homme's longtime bandmate and collaborator Dean Fertita on bass. They've also unveiled the first track from the record - with the beautiful 'Gardenia' flowing with an elegiac waltz, and the esoteric and dark soundscapes of Iggy's work with the late, great David Bowie and much of The Thin White Duke's Berlin period. It's pretty special.
"A lot of geezers my age don't work out of their comfort zone anymore because once you become legendary you don't want people challenging you,” says Iggy of the collaboration - that's certainly not the case here.
Post Pop Depression will be released on 18 March.
The tracklist is as follows:
1) Break into Your Heart
2) Gardenia
3) American Valhalla
4) In The Lobby
5) Sunday
6) Vulture
7) German Days
8) Chocolate Drops
9) Paraguay
Speaking of collaborating with Iggy, Homme added: "This is a much deserved victory lap for a man who’s not sure if he won. But he did. He may have tunnelled underground for lots of that, but he still got to the destination.”
Speaking of their hopes to tour the record, Homme added: “There won’t be hardly any shows, and they won’t be in big places, and you won’t be able to get a ticket,” Mr. Homme said. “So almost everyone won’t see it. It will be like trying to catch smoke in your hands. And that makes it even better. It will be special, and it will be over in the blink of an eye.”
