Bring Me The Horizon got a little overexcited at the NME Awards last night, with frontman Oli Sykes trashing Coldplay's table during their performance. Check it out below.
We were there, and it was probably the most rock n' roll thing that happened all evening. BMTH were at London's Brixton Academy to pick up the Innovation Award. They kept their speech to an absolute minimum,muttering just "We're not one for making words. Thanks NME," before taking to the stage to perform 'Happy Song'.
He then went for a little walk through the crowd, before finding himself among the guests and indie glitterati. He then stood on 'Godlike Geniuses' Coldplay's table for the breakdown in the song, before the table gave way beneath him. Think of all that spilt champagne. The horror. The band were left a little shaken and amused.
Speaking to NME about the incident, Sykes explained: "I had no sound in my ears so I thought 'Well, there might be sound out there.' There weren't sound out there so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn't any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there. It was in no way a protest against Coldplay."
Coldplay received the Godlike Genius Award from Kylie Minogue, while other winners at the ceremony included Foals, Bring Me The Horizon, The Maccabees, Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, Yoko Ono, Wolf Alice and more.
