Blossoms have paid tribute to Viola Beach, after the band and their manager were killed in a car crash, and played a recording from their past set at last night's show.

As previously reported, Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin, along with their manager Craig Tarry, lost their lives when their vehicle left a bridge and crashed 82ft into a canal below in Stockholm on Saturday (13 February).

Local police said that divers recovered the bodies of the victims, and that the Nissan Qashqai they were driving plunged through a gap in the bridge, when it opened to let a bus pass beneath.

They were due to play UK shows this week after appearing at a Swedish festival on Friday night, and also had support dates lined up with Blossoms.

Yesterday, Blossoms paid tribute to the band on Twitter, describing them as "a great gang and a brilliant band." They added, "We said our goodbyes to them as they headed off to Sweden. We'll never forget them."

Meanwhile, today it'll be revealed whether the campaign to get Viola Beach to No.1 - which was backed by the likes of Liam Gallagher and Kasabian - has been successful.
