There is some confusion as to whether or not the Stewart Lee curated of this year's ATP Festival has been cancelled. The venue claim it has been, but organisers say otherwise.
The iconic boutique festival is usually curated by musicians, such as Nick Cave, Mogwai and The National - but for this year, will go for something a little different. Lee is also known as an avid music fan - having written a regular column for The Sunday Times for many years. For the line-up he had already selected the eclectic likes of The Fall, Sleaford Mods, Roky Erickson and many more.
The news of the cancellation broke online when eagle-eyed fans noticed that the venue of Pontin's holiday camp in Prestatyn had started taking general booking across the weekend that the event is due to take place, before one fan got in touch to query this uploaded a screen grab of the email they received from Pontines.
We then contacted the holiday camp, when a customer services worker told us: "it's true the event has been cancelled - ticket holders will have to refer back to the organiser.
An ATP spokesman then told Gigwise: "We have just spoken to Pontins and we are currently resolving this miscommunication. Our events are going ahead as planned."
In 2014, the ATP-curated Jabberwocky Festival was also cancelled at the last minute, causing much frustration and many complaints from fans that were awaiting refunds and bands had arranged to play.
