More about:

The Killers’ bassist, Mark Stoermer, is to take an indefinite break from touring with the band “to pursue other educational goals and release a solo album.”

Stoermer will still be taking part in the studio recordings, but he won’t be joining his bandmates on the road in the future. It’s thought that he’ll be replaced by Jake Blanton - a US musician who replaced him briefly back in 2013.

In a statement to Alternative Nation, The Killers said, "Mark has decided to take a break from The Killers touring - but don’t be surprised if you see him on stage from time to time. Everyone supports Mark’s decision to take a break to pursue other educational goals and releasing a solo album.

"The four of us continue to work on our fifth studio album together, and we’re all excited about the new songs we’re writing. More to come…”

Meanwhile, The Killers are currently in the stages of writing their new album - set for release this year. Even Elton John claims to be working on it.
