After exactly a year away from the social media platform, Ed Sheeran has returned to Twitter with a mysterious post. Is the release of his third record just around the corner?
On this day (December 13) in 2015, the 'Thinking Out Loud' star announced via Twitter that he needed a break from his phone and online presence - promising a new album was in the works. Now, Sheeran fanatics are in hysterics after a simple yet intriguing blue square was posted on the singer's social sites. What could this mean?

Songwriter Amy Wadge, who often works closely with the singer, has shed some light on new material however - stating that a record will be released 'really soon' and that it will likely 'break the internet'.
Meanwhile, the singer worked on the new X Factor single with Wadge, sung by 2016's winner Matt Terry. Sheeran also returned to the headlines recently in what could be described as the most bizzare story of the year - with Sheeren having his face sliced open by Princess Beatrice as she pretended to knight James Blunt. You heard that right.
Ed Sheeran is also rumoured to be joining Radiohead as a headliner at Glastonbury Festival 2016.
