Metallica’s fans were treated to a unique performance when the hard rocking veterans made good on their promise to stream a rehearsal session in preparation for the North American leg of the WorldWired tour.
As previously reported on Gigwise, the band invited a number of lucky fans to attend the rehearsal at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium. The event, entitled Now That We’re Live, was streamed live on Metallica’s Facebook page and also on their website at 9pm EST.
Last week they said: “To kick off the celebrations, we’re inviting you to get a sneak peak of what to expect this summer by checking out our rehearsal the night before the first show via the magic of streaming video on Facebook Live. In a little show very cleverly titled Now That We’re Live we’ll bring rehearsals on Tuesday, May 9 live to your computer, tablet, mobile device or any other way you reach the internet.”
Now, given that was 2am BST on this side of the Atlantic, we’re guessing that only most hardcore of fans stayed up to watch iy. If so, fret no more. If you missed Metallica shake off the cobwebs then you then you can see the whole thing below where the band runs through tracks ‘Atlas Rise’, ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’, ‘Now That We’re Dead’ and ‘Battery’.
Not that everyone was chuffed with what they saw. Posting on the band’s Facebook page, Hasan Ozsoy opined: “You’re not like the old days. I’m so ashamed of you now. Please call it a day.”
Fan Chris Radcliff disagreed and said: “This dude’s favourite song is ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and he sleeps with a teddy bear. Hold your breath until they stop selling out stadiums Mr. Disappointment. Oh, and eat shit!”
