More Louis XIV
San Diego’s girl mad, Rolling Stones fanatics Louis XIV, have spoken out at suggestions that their music, album covers and videos are disrespectful to women.
Speaking exclusively to Gigwise, frontman Jason Hill says accusations that they behave like Neanderthal thugs when around the ladies misses the point of their music.
“They’re obviously not seeing the humour of our songs,” wails Jason. Brian (Karscig, guitarist) and I are laughing all the time in the studio. It’s lazy to say we’re misogynistic, if there’s one thing people should take away from our songs is that we love women.”
Jason points to a flagrant double standard in the U.S music industry. “I guess it all goes back to that thing that it’s okay for 50 Cent to say what he does but it’s not for a white kid from California. That sucks. Our songs are an adoration of women.”
The video for Louis XIV’s forthcoming single, ‘Pledge Of Allegiance’, features the girl from their moral majority baiting The Best Little Secrets Are Kept album cover. Jason explains:
“I called her up and asked her to come over ‘cause I wanted to make a tape. It’s just her hanging out in a hotel room in her underwear. It’s the sexiest thing ever and it only cost $13 – the price of one digital tape. It’s all about the idea not the production.” And it’s all in the name of art.
