San Franciscan quintet was founded by Krayg Burton and started releasing material on Metoo! Records in 2001 including 7” ‘I’m Not Working’. Burton met Lannon after submitting Film School music to a website Lannon contributed to and Ruck in a local African restaurant.  Burton, Lannon and Ruck commenced work on 2001 LP ‘Brilliant Career’, also released on Metoo! Records, with guest appearances from Scott Kannberg (Pavement, Preston School Of Industry) and Kyle Statham (Fuck).

Concurrently, guitarist Lannon was working on his own electronic solo projects n.Ln and n.lannon, which saw the release of ‘Astronomy For Children’ on Highpoint Lowlife Records and 2004 LP ‘Chemical Friends’ released on Badman Recording Co. Lannon also featured in electronic outfit Technicolor alongside LaBo who joined Film School as a permanent member for the ‘Brilliant Career’ Tour. Film School release 4-track EP ‘Always Never’ in 2003 on Amazing Grease Records and ‘Harmed’ is featured on a 2004 Fierce Panda compilation. Drummer Donny Newenhouse joins and the present line-up is complete. The band signed to Beggars Banquet in 2005 and released their first Single ‘On and On’ in September.  Eponymous debut album was released January 2006.
