The Hives

From Sweden, The Hives burst into prominence with the contagious ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’, taken from an album of previous work entitled ‘Your New Favourite Band’.  Released in 2002, it showcased the band’s knack for writing highly infectious punk-garage-rock tunes with infectious riffs.  They became a staple name of the festival circuit, including shows at the year’s Carling Festival Weekend, and Almqvist became known for his highly charismatic stage presence.  They also found some success in America, before disappearing to work on new material.

The Hives re-emerged in Summer 2004 with the single ‘Walk Idiot Walk’, which showed they had lost none of their ability for producing radio-friendly songs.  The album ‘Tyrannosaurus Hives’ followed, delivering much more of the same, and they once again made appearances at the festivals, before embarking on their biggest UK tour to date.
