A new ‘Prince’ song which jokes about the signer’s legal case against his own fans has appeared online.
The seven minute song, entitled, ‘PFUnk,’ has emerged on a website called, Princefamsunited.com – a website which closely resembles the name of the alliance that prince websites have formed in response to the singer’s threat of legal action.
Prince fan sites, Princefams, Housequake and Prince.org formed the organisation, Prince Fans United, last week, after Prince’s legal team asked them to remove certain copyrighted images.
The name ‘PFUnk’ is thought to be a combination of Prince Fans United and George Clinton’s P-Funk bands, Parliament and Funakdelic.
The lyrics in the song include the line: "The only reason you say my name / Is to get your fifteen seconds of fame / Nobody's even sure what you do / I don't care what people may say / I ain't gonna let it ruin my day."
The song later adds: "I love all y'all, don't you ever mess with me no more."
Prince released a statement last Friday (November 9th) which quashed suggestions that he was trying to “control comment” on the fan sites.
The statement also accused the three websites of falsely positioning “themselves as representatives of millions of Prince fans.”
