Robbie Williams 'May Quit EMI Records'

Robbie Williams’ manager has said that the star could quit EMI Records after he finishes his final record with the label.

"I would be very wary about signing him to any major label at the moment,” Tim Clark said.

Williams has been with EMI since he signed an £80 million five album deal with the company in 2002.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Clark said that “all options” would be considered once the deal ends.

His comments come at a critical time for the record label, who have both lost Sir Paul McCartney and Radiohead since they were taken over by private equity company Terra Firma earlier this year.

McCartney, who signed with Starbucks’ label Hear Music to release his latest solo album, said last week that the EMI had become “boring”.

Speaking to the BBC, Yorke described the role of shareholders and private equity firms in the music industry as “inorganic”.

Terra Firma paid £2.4 billion for EMI in a last minute takeover deal.
