Hailing from Sunderland The Futureheads are one of the most exciting new bands to emerge this decade. Combining furious barber shop style vocals mixed with mind boggling time signatures and angular guitars their funk punk is a sure fire winner.

The band began their life as a three piece with Barry Hyde, Jaff and drummer Pete Brewis (who went on to form Field Music). They were then joined by Millard, eventually Brewis was replaced by Barry’s younger brother Dave. The band released their first EP ‘Nul Book Standard’ in 2002; it contained future album tracks such as ‘Robot’ and ‘Stupid and Shallow’. A second EP, ‘entitled 1-2-3 Nul!’ was released in 2003.
Following the success of the limited edition EP’s the band signed to 679 Records and released first single proper ‘First Day’ in 2004. This was soon followed up by ‘A to B’, ‘Decent Days and Nights’ and ‘Meantime’. These singles saw the band establish a hardcore fan base and limited chart success, however in 2005 the band hit mainstream success with their cover of the Kate Bush classic ‘Hounds Of Love’. With an a capella intro and massive chorus the song was a huge hit and took the band into the Top 10.

Live the band kick a mean punch with their raucous and fast paced delivery, crowd participation and plethora of hit singles. Having embarked on numerous headline tours the band have also supported the likes of Oasis, Pixies and Foo Fighters.

2006 saw a one off EP consisting of the title track ‘Area’ and two other songs, one sung by Ross Millard and the other by Jaff, showing the talent within the band.

2006 is also the year that The Futureheads are releasing their second album ‘News And Tributes’. A diverse, less instantaneous but ultimately warmer album its set to please existing fans and capture new followers. ‘Skip To The End’ the first single to be released from the album is out on May 15th followed by the album on May 29th
