The Verve previewed a new song during their performance at the Coachella Festival in Los Angeles on Friday (April 25th).
The as-yet-untitled track came at the end of a set that was filled with the recently reformed bands classic hits.
Speaking to the audience before the final track, frontman Richard Ashcroft dismissed bands that reform just to play old material.
“Most bands when they reform don't make new music, but that's all this band's about, so we made some new music," Ashcroft said.
The band’s performance, which also saw them treat the sun-drenched LA crowd to such songs as ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ and the anthemic ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, was their first on US soil in ten years.
The Verve's much anticipated new studio album, which will be the follow-up to 1997’s ‘Urban Hymns’, is expected later this summer.
The Coachella Festival closes tonight (April 27th) with a performance from Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters.
