Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson says that she feared Tom Waits would hate her debut album, ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’.
The record, which was released this week, features ten covers of Waits own songs and one originally composition.
Johansson said that when she was approached with the idea, her “ultimate goal was to not get chased down by Tom Waits and get my ass beat in a bar.”
"I've heard from people who are friends with him that he's very pleased with it” she told the New York Post.
“He's been really supportive - not from the sidelines, but from a far, far distance.”
"It was constantly in the back of my mind that if we did something Tom Waits hated, he'd come at me with a hammer."
Meanwhile, Tom Waits is expected to confirm a host of UK tour dates after details of shows in Edinburgh were published.
Tickets for the dates, at the Playhouse this July, are expected to go on sale later this month.
