Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess has revealed that his side-project, The Chavs, plan to record their debut album.
Speaking to BBC 6Music, Burgess said that the group, which also features Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat and Jamie Reynolds from Klaxons, will enter the studio in August.
Until now, The Chavs have been a sporadic side-project for Barat and Burgess, losing and gaining members during occasional live appearances.
But Burgess said he now wanted the band to become “very serious”, adding: “I think it might be quite avant-garde to be honest.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Barat was rushed into hospital on Tuesday and has since been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
According to a recent statement, the singer is said to be resting well in hospital.
