Amy Winehouse overcame early nerves to deliver an intense performance at the Rock in Rio music festival in Madrid yesterday (July 4th).
The singer’s appearance at the event came a week after her acclaimed vocal performances at Glastonbury and the Nelson Mandela in concert.
Winehouse played guitar and drank from a glass of red wine during her show, which included a powerful rendition of her hit single ‘Rehab’.
Organisers had been concerned about Winehouse’s appearance at Rock in Rio following her outburst at Glastonbury last Saturday (June 28th), which saw her elbow a member of the audience.
The singer had also turned up over an hour late to the Portuguese leg of Rock in Rio in May, much to the anger of festivalgoers.
Although Winehouse’s performance yesterday didn’t include an encore, her manager told a local TV network that the singer had enjoyed the show.
The Police, Franz Ferdinand and Bob Dylan will also play a the festival as the event continues throughout the weekend.
