Teenagers are at risk of depression and mental illness if they listen to a particular genre of music, a recent study has concluded.
Doctors are being asked to put forward questions about their patients’ musical tastes to determine aspects on their social life and their risk of committing suicide.
A study, published in today's Australasian Psychiatry journal, claims that teenagers who listen to heavy metal are big on unprotected sex, self-harm and shoplifting, with fans of pop having to deal with curiosity on their sexuality and worries about peer-acceptance.
It’s also claimed that those who listen to dance indulge in more drug use, no matter what their socio-economic background is.
Jazz fans struggle with social acceptance, usually settling down as misfits and ‘loners’. Rap fans are also keen on theft, violence and anger, according to the study.
Nothing was mentioned on the genres of indie, punk or alternative.
- What a load of old shite!

- Jazz fans struggle with social acceptance? I hope this message gets approved?

- So a person\'s issues can have an influence on which types of music they might gravitate towards, eh? Well, knock me over with a feather!!! Anyone with the slightest hint of common sense already knew this. By the way, good job at propagating the Heavy Metal stereotype by mentioning said genre in the headline... Arsehole.
Metal... Music\'s underdog since 1970.

- That is total bullshit! Getting into metal actually helped me realize I did NOT have a depression problem, even tho my doctors wanted me on all kinds of drugs for it. It also helped me get off the drugs and start having better self-esteem. Explain that, those of you who think you know so much about metal without listening to it!!!

- Yay! Lets promote stereotypes and pass it off as a study!
PIle of shit...
