Dogs

Dogs- the name says it all. A London based five piece formed little over two years ago, .Johnny Cooke (vox), a charmer whose opinions and passion precede him, Duncan Timms (bass) and Luciano Vargas (guitar/vox) ended up in the city whilst escaping the Cambridge suburbia, but London wasn’t able to cope. Undeterred they came back for more and soon after Dogs achieved its current line up; now armed with Rich Mitchell, their ever youthful drummer and dashing guitarist Rikki Mehta, (both northerners respectively) something began to stir and soon they had a legion of fans and critics alike.

With a now coveted debut, they made their name- “London Bridge” and “End Of An Era” are perhaps the two songs that hold the most potent of emotions for a debut single; lines like “When battered heads dissemble and descend into a mess upon the city/When bleeding hearts awake from single beds and paint themselves so very pretty” scream such an honesty it hurts.

The only way to describe Dogs is this; snarling, spitting, pain and passion. Lyrically like Paul Weller and Morrissey havin’ it out with one another, and musically…well to put it simply they’re more violent than The Clash, stroppier than The Jam but have such a dignity (and ego) befitting Oasis.

Their debut album “Turn Against This Land” follows a success of four single releases charting top 40 and top 30 success. Produced by legendary John Cornfield in his Cornwall studio, “Turn Against This Land” is due out early August of this year.
