Animal rights group PETA has called for Kid Rock to “grow up and grow out of his cruel wardrobe” after he vowed to continue wearing fur.
In a recent interview, the musician claimed to have “every kind of animal” in his wardrobe.
Kid Rock, who divorced from PETA activist Pamela Anderson two years ago, also said he was prepared to "go to war" with the organisation.
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) opposes the use of animal fur and skin in the clothing trade.
In a statement, the organisation exclusively told Gigwise: “Hell hath no fury like a man scorned. Though his relationship with PETA pal Pam Anderson ended years ago, Kid Rock is clearly still wearing his heart on his fur sleeve.
“Maybe one day this kid will grow up and grow out of his cruel wardrobe.”
Kid Rock frequently performs in fur coats and has spoken out in the past about his love of hunting.
In reference to PETA campaigners often drastic action against celebrities who wear fur, Rock said he was “willing the animal rights protesters to chuck red paint on me”.
"To throw paint on someone is just wrong. They do it to little Hollywood actresses who can't defend themselves,” he added.
Rock’s comments were also criticised by Gigwise readers, who said he had made a “fool of himself”.
