Editors frontman Tom Smith has revealed that the band have been listening to the Terminator theme tune for inspiration on their new album.
Smith also disclosed that the group had worked with a group of singing children and a violinist during recording sessions.
“There’s kind of a real electronic sheen to it. A lot of it to me sounds like it could soundtrack Bladerunner, and we’ve been listening to the Terminator theme quite a lot as well,” he told BBC 6Music.
“We keep referencing that, but at the moment we’re just trying as many different things as we can.”
He added: “In one of the demo sessions we had a choir of children come along and sing at the end of one of these songs.
“Another day Russell [Leetch, bassist]’s girlfriend, who plays violin with Ra Ra Riot, came down and played on a couple of songs.”
Smith said the Midlands group, who now live between London, Birmingham and New York, had written eighteen songs but would wait until February to work with a producer.
