- More The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses' bassist Mani has revealed that the band have spoken about reforming with each other in 2009.
But he warned that while guitarist John Squire and drummer Reni both supported a reunion, singer Ian Brown had still yet to be persuaded.
“Me, John and Reni are up for doing it and Ian just needs some working on,” the bassist, who now plays with Primal Scream, told Channelbee.
Mani said 2009 would be an “ideal” time to reform because it will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the band's self-titled debut album.
“It’s something I would love to do before we are all fat and bald. Start the campaign,” he added.
Fans' hopes of a reunion still recent on the relationship between Brown and Squire, which is still said to be tense following the band's decline in the mid-90s.
Since splitting, Brown has established himself as a solo performer, while Squire has concentrated on his work as an artist.
Speculation about a reformation has increased following recent reunions by Blur and The Specials.
- I would go anywhere and pay anything to see this happen - please just don't do a once off reunion - do a proper tour!
- Bye bye badman, hello reunion. Any Money, Any Location
- show the world what its missing the stone roses
- serious this needs to happen as mani said start campaign. stone roses stone roses
- Ideal time to reform - as bands such as The Police, Led Zepplin, Take That, Boyzone, have made millions and millions from doing so already.
