Robert Pattinson, star of the teen vampire movie Twilight, has said he plans to follow his interest in music if his film career ever faltered.
“Music is my backup plan if acting fails,” he told the LA Times. “I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket.”
The 22-year-old actor said he found it “overwhelming” that two of his own original compositions had been included on the soundtrack to Twilight.
“It’s strange because what was supposed to be at that point in the movie was a big orchestral film climax. Instead it’s this little song with acoustic guitar,” he said.
But Pattinson stressed that he didn't want fans to think he was trying “cash in” on the movie's success.
“That’s what I was scared about, it looks like I’m trying to get a music career out of it or something,” he said. “I’m not going to be doing any music videos or anything.
As previously reported on Gigwise, earlier this week Pattinson revealed that US rapper Emimen was one of his heroes as a youngster.
