Run DMC's Darryl McDaniels has said he can't comprehend the hip-hop collectives induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

"I'm a rap dude - I'm an MC just rocking the mic and, to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Beatles and [Bob] Dylan and the rock 'n' roll gods? It's ridiculous. Ridiculous in a good way," he said.

Run DMC will become only the second rap group to join the Hall of Fame following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's induction in 2006.

The group, who formed in 1983, are widely regarded as one of the host influential hip-hop acts of all time.

Metallica, Jeff Beck, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Bobby Womack will also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on April 4th.

The performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

Bands become eligible for inclusion twenty-five years after the release of their first recording.
