- More Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse has said she won’t let her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, divorce her.
Fielder-Civil, who is currently in prison, filed a request for divorce on Monday (January 12th) on the grounds of the singer’s alleged infidelity.
However, in an interview with the Sun newspaper, Winehouse said she still loved her husband, despite being pictured alongside another man on her holiday in the Caribbean.
“I won’t let him divorce me. He’s still in jail but the moment he comes out I’ll be there waiting for him,” she said.
A spokesperson for Winehouse acknowledged on Tuesday (January 13th) that her lawyers had received divorce papers.
But the singer said in her interview that she would be “together again” with Fielder-Civil.
“I love him because he’s just like me. Blake is the male version of me. We’re perfect for each other,” she said.
She also claimed that she plans to fly her husband out to join her on the island of St Lucia when he is released from prison.
Fielder-Civil is currently serving a 27-month prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a pub landlord and perverting the course of justice.
Winehouse has been in St Lucia since before Christmas.
