U2's 360 Degree Tour Smashes European Sales Records

U2 smashed sales records as tickets for the European leg of their 360° Tour went on sale over the weekend.

The Irish band sold 6,700 tickets in 60 seconds for their gig at London's Wembley Stadium, while all 160,000 tickets for two dates at Dublin's Croke Park in July sold out in 40 minutes.

Demand for tickets for also high in continental Europe, where the band were forced to add extra shows in Gothenburg, Amsterdam and Milan.

U2 will also play second dates in Sheffield and Nice, promoter Live Nation announced today.

As previously reported on Gigwise, the stage set will feature an innovative 360° design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience.

Arthur Fogel, CEO Global Touring/Chairman of Global Music Live Nation, said: “The fans are really excited about the amazing staging, the U2.com microsite has been hugely popular, we’re delighted.”

Support on the tour will come from the likes of Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas.
