American murderer Charles Manson has allegedly sought the expertise of legendary record producer Phil Spector to help launch his own recording career from inside prison.
Spector, who began a 19 year sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson earlier this year, has recently been moved to Corcoran State Prison in California where Manson is being held and it is reported that he has attempted to contact the producer.
“A guard brought Philip a note from Manson... He said he considers Philip the greatest producer who ever lived”, Spector's wife Rachelle told the New York Post.
Manson was a familiar face on the Californian music scene in the late 1960s and it was the refusal by producer Terry Melcher to work with him that lead to the murders for which he is currently serving time.
After a case of mistaken identity, Roman Polanski's wife Sharon Tate, amongst others, was murdered by Manson's cult.
Since the murders in 1969 Manson's gained notoriety with artists such as Guns N' Roses covering his songs and taking Marilyn Manson using his name.
