About the exciting chart race ahead...

The 'Rage Against The Machine For Christmas No.1' campaign organiser has spoken to Gigwise about their odds for the top spot being dramatically slashed.

Earlier today we reported that bookmakers William Hill have slashed the odds of 'Killing In The Name Of' hitting number one at Chrimbo from 100/1 to 3/1.

The Facebook campaign was launched earlier this month by Tracy Morter and her husband Jon in protest reaction to The X Factor's perennial Christmas chart dominance.

Tracy told us: “I am so excited the odds have been slashed, this is exactly the intention of the group; to make Christmas number one the traditional exciting race it used to be.

“If we pull this off it may wipe they slate clean. I'd love to see in future all artists - especially those starting out - have a fair chance of getting a festive chart topper. There's room for all musical genres in the chart.”

Despite the slash in odds, The X Factor winner, who will cover Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb', is the 1/5 favourite to take the Christmas top spot.

The RATM Facebook group now has 600,000 members, meaning that if every person downloads the track 'Killing In The Name Of' is likely to hit number one.

Yesterday, Simon Cowell branded the campaign "stupid" and "cynical" and claimed it's aimed towards himself rather than the contestants.

As some proceeds of the X Factor song are going to charity, those pledging their support to the RATM campaign can donate to Shelter - a charity helping the homeless - HERE.
