Simon Cowell has hit out at the Rage Against The Machine for Christmas No.1 campaign again calling it “miserable” and “very Scrooge”.
'Killing In The Name' is currently ahead of X Factor Joe McElderry's song 'The Climb' on download sales, but Cowell is confident of overtaking it when the physical copies hit the shelves.
He tells the Daily Star: "We've got 500,000 singles going out on Wednesday and Joe will be number one.
"Why not let the kid have his moment? It's all very Scrooge. It's miserable to put down young talent. We should celebrate it."
In a press conference last week, the pop mogul called the campaign “stupid” and “cynical” claiming it is aimed towards himself.
Earlier today, joint founder of the Facebook group Jon Morter urged fans to but Rage Against The Machine to stop X Factor claiming its fifth Christmas number one in a row.
- Why should the kid have a divine right to 'his moment'??? He should work for it by err.....having a career first maybe! Since when was the xmas no.1 about that?? This is exactly what we're protesting about and what Cowell can't seem to grasp!
- Cowell wants your cash!
- RATM earned their way to a record deal over years and against odds with their political views. How exactly does Joe deserve it more than them when all he's done is win X Factor in a year without any talent? Tom Morello's ability on the guitar alone outweighs Joe's 'talented' voice, and then add in the other band members.
- Slime On Cowell (or rather Coward)
- it might take talent to sing but it taks more to be part of a band
