Radiohead's Thom Yorke has given his side-project band a name and unveiled some US tour dates.
Writing on Deadairspace, Yorke revealed that the collaboration with Flea, Nigel Godrich, Mauro Refosco and Joey Waronker is called Atoms For Peace and they will play eight shows ahead of their Coachella performance in April.
Support on the US shows will come from Flying Lotus.
Yorke wrote: “ok so in April the other band.. that i got together to do the eraser and other stuff u know .. Mauro, Flea, Me, Joey and Nigel is going back out to do some shows in the US.. ending with playing with Coachella. we had too much fun to just leave it there...
“it has been decided that we call ourselves Atoms For Peace. hope you like the name.. it seemed bleedin' obvious.”
'Atoms For Peace' is the name of a track from Yorke's solo debut 'The Eraser'.
Meanwhile, Yorke plays a solo set at the Cambridge Corn Exchange tonight to raise money for Green Party candidate Tony Juniper.
The Atoms For Peace US tour dates are as follows:
New York Roseland Ballroom – April 5/6
Boston Citi Wang Theatre - 8
Chicago Aragon Ballroom - 10/11
Oakland Fox Theatre - 14/15
Santa Barbara Bowl - 17
