Download Festival booker Andy Copping has confirmed that they asked Led Zeppelin to headline this summer's festival.

Copping said that although a number of festivals have thrown “loads of money” to the Led Zeppelin band members, there is little chance of them reforming again.

Instead, Copping has settled for AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine and Aerosmith.- headliners he is “more than happy with.”

He told Xfm: “If I could get Led Zeppelin to play at Download, it would be phenomenal. If that’s not going to happen, I’m more than happy with what we’ve got”.

"Every single festival in the world approaches Led Zeppelin or their management to get them to pay at their festival. Loads of money gets thrown out.

“It’s not what they want to do at the moment and that’s fine. They probably never will, but everyone has a stab at it."

Download Festival takes place at Donington Park, Leicestershire on the weekend on June 11th to the 13th 2010.
